You can always try, but the SSA will usually not issue a SSA number to the children of an E-2 visa holder. Only to the dependent-spouse so she can soon thereafter apply for a work permit from USCIS. Children cannot. Sorry. And upon reaching the age of 21 children "fall out" of their parents' E-2 visa. Watch out. Time flies.
