You need a visa only if you are changing airports (London has 4 airports) - just check if the airport code for London is the same for both your flights. If the airport code is the same, then no - you don't need a transit visa. Just be prepared to spend those 12 hrs in the airport (anyway there is nothing much near the airports there)
